原兽亚纲是哺乳纲动物的其中一个亚纲，现存只有1目（单孔目）2科3属5种，只分布在大洋洲地区。

原兽亚纲的动物一度被认为是较低等的生物。但现时生物学的研究证实他们只是比后兽亚纲（有袋亚纲）及真兽亚纲（有胎盘亚纲）的动物较早分支出来而已。
