鄱阳湖（「鄱」，拼音：pó）是中国第一大淡水湖（因洞庭湖已缩小成中国第二大淡水湖）、第二大湖（仅次于青海湖）和中国五大淡水湖之一。位于江西省北部、长江南岸，鄱阳湖上承赣、抚、信、饶、修五河之水，下接中国第一大河——长江。鄱湖人余亚飞诗称：“浩渺鄱湖水接天，波翻浪涌竞争先；连江通海胸怀广，滋养生灵岁复年”。鄱阳湖丰水期烟波浩渺，水天一色；枯水期野草丰美，芦苇茂盛；湖畔沃野绵延，候鸟翱翔，牛羊倘佯，风光美丽。鄱阳湖介于北纬28度22分～29度45分，东经115度47分～116度45分。跨南昌、新建、进贤、余干、鄱阳、都昌、湖口、九江、星子、德安和永修等市县。

Poyang Lake (Chinese:鄱阳湖/鄱阳湖; pinyin:Póyáng Hú, Gan: Po-yong U), located in Jiangxi Province, is the largest freshwater lake in China.

The lake is fed by the Gan, Xin, and Xiu rivers, which connect to the Yangtze through a channel.

The area of Poyang Lake fluctuates dramatically between the wet and dry seasons, but in recent years the size of the lake has been decreasing overall. In a normal year the area of the lake averages 3,500 square kilometres (1,400 sq mi). In early 2012, due to drought and the practice of storing water at the Three Gorges Dam the area of the lake reached a low of about 200 square kilometres (77 sq mi). The lake provides a habitat for half a million migratory birds and is a favorite destination for birding.
