抹香鲸（学名：Physeter macrocephalus，又称巨抹香鲸、卡切拉特鲸）是世界上最大的齿鲸。牠们在所有鲸类中潜得最深、最久，因此有动物王国中的“潜水冠军”的美誉。可能只有喙鲸科的两种瓶鼻鲸在潜水方面能与之比拟：虽然有实际观测到的最深记录由柯氏喙鲸创造，但不排除抹香鲸有能力下潜更深。除了过去被视为头号目标的捕鲸时期以外，抹香鲸可能是大型鲸中数量最多的一种。美国作家梅尔维尔的经典名著《白鲸记》，书中那头神勇的大鲸莫比·敌克就是一头抹香鲸。种名macrocephalus源自希腊文，意为「大头」。抹香鲸另有一种名catodon，同种异名的情况过去曾引发长期的争论，现macrocephalus为主流用语。

The sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus), or cachalot, is the largest of the toothed whales and the largest toothed predator. It is the only living member of genus Physeter, and one of three extant species in the sperm whale family, along with the pygmy sperm whale and dwarf sperm whale of the genus Kogia.
