泛非主义是非洲的一种民族主义思潮，呼吁非洲政治上的联合。它促成了泛非运动的广泛发展，代表旗帜是红黑绿三色旗。

1919年2月，杜波依斯与塞内加尔的布莱兹·迪亚涅共同主持了第一届泛非大会，会议在法国巴黎举行。1921年8-9月，第二届泛非大会先后在伦敦、布鲁塞尔和巴黎三地举行。第五届泛非大会于1945年10月在英国曼彻斯特举办。1974年6月，第六届泛非大会在达累斯萨拉姆举行。

Pan-Africanism is an ideology and movement that encourages the solidarity of Africans worldwide. It is based on the belief that unity is vital to economic, social, and political progress and aims to "unify and uplift" people of African descent. The ideology asserts that the fate of all African peoples and countries are intertwined. At its core Pan-Africanism is "a belief that African peoples, both on the continent and in the diaspora, share not merely a common history, but a common destiny".
