直泳动物门是由所知甚少的海底无脊椎动物寄生虫所组成的一个小门，是最简单的多细胞生物之一。

寄生的生物有扁形动物、多毛纲的虫、双壳纲的软件动物和棘皮动物等。

已知的物种大约有20种，其中以 Rhopalura ophiocomae 最为知名。

于1880年时，原本是被归类为中生动物门的一纲，而有时则被归为其中的一目。但目前的研究显现，直泳虫和中生动物门的另一群－菱形虫，几乎可以说是完全地不同。
