But about 300 million years ago, Earth's atmospheric oxygen levels spiked.

But about 300 million years ago, Earth’s atmospheric oxygen levels spiked.

During prehistoric times, two-foot dragonflies did exist, because atmospheric oxygen levels were higher.

All in all, if you can hold your breath for 5 seconds, then you'll most likely survive the atmospheric oxygen apocalypse.

Asap SCIENCE 精选

If we first look at the loss of atmospheric oxygen as in oxygen in the air, you may not want to be traveling.

The levels of atmospheric oxygen started to plummet -- why, we're not sure.

The result was an all-time high in the world's levels of atmospheric oxygen.

TED-Ed(视频版)

You might say, okay, well, just be more careful about specifying the objective— don't forget the atmospheric oxygen.

VOA Special 2022

Unlike other possible biosignatures such as atmospheric oxygen, methane is one of the few gases that could be detected by using the James Webb Space Telescope.

Take the Great Oxygenation Event of 2.3 billion years ago: evidence from ancient rocks tells us that levels of atmospheric oxygen spiked around this time, poisoning the oxygen-hating microbes that had dominated Earth for well over a billion years.

While two fifths of thestudents provided the information that the rainforests provide oxygen, in some casesthis response also embraced the misconception that rainforest destruction wouldreduce atmospheric oxygen, making the atmosphere incompatible with human life onEarth.

Atmospheric chemistry

Visualisation of composition by volume of Earth's atmosphere. Water vapour is not included as it is highly variable. Each tiny cube (such as the one representing krypton) has one millionth of the volume of the entire block. Data is from NASA Langley.

Carbon dioxide in Earth's atmosphere if half of global-warming emissions[3][4] are not absorbed.(NASA simulation; 9 November 2015)Nitrogen dioxide 2014 - global air quality levels(released 14 December 2015).[5]

Atmospheric chemistry is a branch of atmospheric science in which the chemistry of the Earth's atmosphere and that of other planets is studied. It is a multidisciplinary approach of research and draws on environmental chemistry, physics, meteorology, computer modeling, oceanography, geology and volcanology and other disciplines. Research is increasingly connected with other arenas of study such as climatology.
