球场由卜比·查尔顿起了一个外号为「梦剧场」。梦剧场由1910年起作为曼联的主场球场，途中曾经于第二次世界大战中受到德军空袭而用了八年的时间(1941年至1949年)维修。曼联亦因而需要迁到同市的球会曼城的缅因路球场作赛。球场分别于1990年代及2000年代进行扩建工程。北、东、西看台均已经扩建至第二层，未来计划再把南看台扩建，总容纳人数预计可以增加至90,000人。1939年，球场创造了最高入场人数，但比赛却有趣地不是由曼联作赛，而是由甘士比对战狼队的一场英格兰足总杯准决赛，总共有76,962名观众入场观看赛事。
