新石器时代(Neolithic),在考古学上是石器时代的最后一个阶段,以磨制石器为主,大约从1万年前开始,结束时间从距今7400多年至2200多年不等。不过,在有些地区,如中美洲,在西元后仍停在新石器时代,不过仍出现高度的文明,如马雅文化。

The Neolithic /ˌnəˈlɪθɪk/ Age, Era, or Period, or New Stone Age, was a period in the development of human technology, beginning about 10,200 BC, according to the ASPRO chronology, in some parts of the Middle East, and later in other parts of the world and ending between 4,500 and 2,000 BC.
