紫式部973?-1014或1031年?),日本平安时代女性文学家。出身贵族文人世家,父兄皆善汉诗、和歌。本姓藤原,实际的本名不详,据猜测可能为藤原香子藤原则子。中古三十六歌仙、女房三十六歌仙之一。其和歌曾收录于《小仓百人一首》。

幼时从父藤原为时学习汉学,通晓音律和佛典。1004年4月,紫式部丧夫寡居,应召入宫侍奉一条天皇的中宫藤原彰子,同年秋开始创作《源氏物语》。

Murasaki Shikibu(紫 式部, English: Lady Murasaki; c. 973 or 978 – c. 1014 or 1031) was a Japanese novelist, poet and lady-in-waiting at the Imperial court during the Heian period. She is best known as the author of The Tale of Genji, written in Japanese between about 1000 and 1012. Murasaki Shikibu is a nickname; her real name is unknown, but she may have been Fujiwara Takako, who was mentioned in a 1007 court diary as an imperial lady-in-waiting.
