明尼苏达州（英语：State of Minnesota）是美国第32个州，于1858年5月11日加入联邦。明尼苏达州的名字来自于当地印第安人中的达科他人对明尼苏达河的称呼：“mini sota”，意思是“白烟的水”或“天色的水”。明尼苏达州的缩写是MN或Minn.。

明尼苏达州是美国中西部最大的一个州，属于上中西部地区。明尼苏达州最重要的城市地区是由明尼阿波利斯和圣保罗组成的双城地区，这两座城市以及它们周围的城区里的居民占明尼苏达州总居民数的一半以上。

Minnesota (/ˌmɪnᵻˈsoʊtə/; locally  [ˌmɪnəˈsɒʊɾɐ]) is a state in the Midwestern United States. Minnesota was admitted as the 32nd state on May 11, 1858, created from the eastern half of the Minnesota Territory. The name comes from the Dakota word for "clear blue water". Owing to its large number of lakes, the state is informally known as the "Land of 10,000 Lakes". Its official motto is L'Étoile du Nord (French: Star of the North). Minnesota is the 12th largest in area and the 21st most populous of the U.S. States; nearly 60 percent of its residents live in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area (known as the "Twin Cities"), the center of transportation, business, industry, education, and government and home to an internationally known arts community. The remainder of the state consists of western prairies now given over to intensive agriculture; deciduous forests in the southeast, now partially cleared, farmed and settled; and the less populated North Woods, used for mining, forestry, and recreation.
