碳钢（carbon steel）是一类含碳量高于0.02%低于2%（高于2%的被称为铸铁，低于0.1%被称熟铁），而极少其他元素的钢材，也是产量最高的金属材料，相对有较高其他成分(不包括杂质)的钢称合金钢。 它通常使用在需要强度、硬度和耐磨性的金属零件上上，如切削工具、钢缆、钢琴线、弹簧和刀具等，在加工形成后，零件通常需要再经过处理并回火。钢含碳量越高，其加热处理后的硬度、强度和耐磨性也就越高。 碳钢分为高碳钢、中碳钢和低碳钢，这三种碳钢又各分为两种；依照特性，高碳钢质硬且脆、低碳钢质软且耐延展。
