金虎尾科（学名：Malpighiaceae）也叫黄褥花科，共有约75属1300余种，分布在全球热带地区，但绝大部分生长在热带美洲，主要在加勒比海地区、美国南部，其余小部分生长在非洲、马达加斯加岛、菲律宾、新喀里多尼亚和中南半岛一带。中国只有部分引入的观赏植物，没有原生的品种。

本科植物为灌木、乔木或木质藤本；单叶对生，叶柄基部有腺体；花两性，辐射对称或左右对称，花萼5裂，其中之一裂或多裂有腺体或无腺体；花瓣5，有齿或撕裂状；果实为蒴果或有翅。

1981年的克朗奎斯特分类法将其列入远志目，1998年根据基因亲缘关系分类的APG 分类法将其放在新单独分出的金虎尾目中。

The Malpighiaceae are a family of flowering plants in the order Malpighiales. It comprises about 75 genera and 1300 species, all of which are native to the tropics and subtropics. About 80% of the genera and 90% of the species occur in the New World (the Caribbean and the southernmost United States to Argentina) and the rest in the Old World (Africa, Madagascar, and Indomalaya to New Caledonia and the Philippines).
