喀拉喀托火山（6°6′27″S, 105°25′3″E；印尼语：Krakatau）位于印度尼西亚巽他海峡中，拉卡塔岛附近。它是一座活火山，在历史上持续不断地喷发，最著名的一次是1883年等级为VEI-6的大爆发，释放出250亿立方米的物质，远在毛里求斯岛都能够听到这次喷发的剧烈声响，是人类历史上最大的火山喷发之一。这次喷发以及继发的海啸摧毁了数百个村庄和城市，50000多人死于非命。原有的喀拉喀托火山的三分之二在爆发中消失，新的火山活动自1927年又产生了一个不断成长的火山岛。

Krakatoa, or Krakatau (Indonesian:Krakatau), is a volcanic island situated in the Sunda Strait between the islands of Java and Sumatra in the Indonesian province of Lampung. The name is also used for the surrounding island group comprising the remnants of a much larger island of three volcanic peaks which was obliterated in a cataclysmic 1883 eruption, unleashing huge tsunamis (killing more than 36,000 people) and destroying over two-thirds of the island. The explosion is considered to be the loudest sound ever heard in modern history, with reports of it being heard up to 3,000 miles (4,800 km) from its point of origin. The shock waves from the explosion were recorded on barographs worldwide.
