护教士

护教士（英语：Apologist），是活跃于2世纪的基督教著述家，是对基督教教义具影响力的教父。护教士视基督教是哲学，其职责可分为辩护、驳斥、建设。护教士以口说或文档著作方式进行辩护（Apologia）。

辩护一开始并非只有基督教会使用，乃源于古希腊哲学家，而犹太哲学家斐洛（Philo）则为护教学奠下稳定根基，创建了一套标准护教学的模式，供后人所用。早期的护教士的任务并非是维护教义，主要是在辨明那些反对基督教的人的话是虚谎且毫无根据的，指出反对基督教的知识份子故意捏造虚假的事来污蔑教会。护教士一方面要证明这些是捏造的谎言，另一方面则是要将基督教与外邦人的宗教加以比较，权衡其优劣。护教士初只站在自卫角度辩护自己的教义，后来发展为主动挑对方宗教或哲学的盲点，说明他人的信仰来自鬼神或只是虚空的话。
