存货周转是指由企业购置货品，直至出售之间的周期。

企业购置货品后，一般都不能短时间内全数售出，并需要作仓存。但企业经营者皆希望尽速将其购置之货品出售获利，在销售交易完成后，存货逐渐去化，此时又得重新购入，因此营运状况良好的企业，其存货周转速率也一定相当高。存货购入后将产生相关管理与保存成本，过多的存货将不仅增加不必要的成本，也容易产生其他风险，如存货可能有遭窃、陈旧、变质过时导致价值的减损。相对地，高存货周转速率可降低这些成本与风险。是以分析存货首重周转率，它衡量存货与销货之间的关系，普遍适用的存货周转率如下所示：
