Canna indica L. (also known as Canna edulis or achira (Latin America), canna, bandera, chancle, coyol, saka siri, or platanillo, Marathi:kardaL करदळ, Sanskrit: vankeLii वनकेळी, sarvajayaa सर्वजया) is a plant species of the Canna genus, belonging to the family Cannaceae, and native to much of South America, Central America, the West Indies, Mexico, and the southeastern United States (Florida, Texas, Louisiana, and South Carolina). It is also naturalized in much of Europe, sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia, and Oceania.
