Illus

Aelia Verina was the widow of Emperor Leo I. Because of the connection of Illus to Pamprepius, who was hated by Verina, Illus came into contrast with the dowager empress. Verina also tried to have Illus killed, but the assassin did little harm to the Byzantine general, and was executed.
