霍亨索伦家族（Hohenzollerns）是欧洲的三大王朝之一，为勃兰登堡-普鲁士（1415年-1918年）及德意志帝国（1871年-1918年）的主要统治家族。霍亨索伦家族起源于士瓦本公国境内的黑欣根附近，其始祖布尔夏德一世在11世纪初叶受封为索伦伯爵。领地在今上内卡河、施瓦本山和上多瑙河之间。

索伦伯爵腓特烈三世是神圣罗马帝国皇帝腓特烈一世和亨利六世的忠实支持者，1185年腓特烈三世与纽伦堡伯爵康拉德二世联姻，前者娶了后者的女儿索菲亚，因康拉德二世没有男性继承人，1192年康拉德二世去世后，腓特烈三世成为腓特烈一世，此后该家族在索伦前冠以“霍亨”（意为“高贵的”）字样，称为霍亨索伦家族。他的两个儿子先后继承爵位，腓特烈四世继承索伦-纽伦堡伯爵领地，康拉德三世继承兄长的纽伦堡伯爵领地。从而形成信奉天主教的士瓦本系和信奉新教的法兰克尼亚系两支。

The House of Hohenzollern is a dynasty of former princes, electors, kings, and emperors of Hohenzollern, Brandenburg, Prussia, the German Empire, and Romania. The family arose in the area around the town of Hechingen in Swabia during the 11th century and took their name from Hohenzollern Castle. The first ancestor of the Hohenzollerns was mentioned in 1061. They derived from the Burchardinger dynasty.
