Ang Mo Kio 宏茂桥
Ang Mo Kio (Chinese:宏茂桥, Tamil:ஆங் மோ கியோ), also known as either Ang Mo Kio New Town or Ang Mo Kio Town, formerly known as Kou Teu Kio, and often abbreviated as AMK, is a planning area and matured residential town situated in the North-East Region of Singapore. Ang Mo Kio is the 3rd most populated planning area in the North-East Region and ranks 8th in terms of population in the country overall. The planning area is located at the south-eastern corner of the North-East Region, where it is tucked between the Central Region and the North Region. Ang Mo Kio is bordered by the planning areas of Yishun to the north, Sengkang to the north-east, Serangoon to the east and Bishan to the south. Running along the western boundary of the Ang Mo Kio is the Central Catchment Nature Reserve. The jurisdiction of the area has been largely handled by Ang Mo Kio Town Council and Ang Mo Kio Group Representation Constituency since 1991, although other constituencies have also handled parts of Ang Mo Kio Town with every quinquennial general election. At current, one other constituency has assumed control over part of Ang Mo Kio, Nee Soon GRC. The current Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong, is a member of Ang Mo Kio Town Council and the constituency of the same name.
