Haapavesi is a town and a municipality of Finland.

It is located in the province of Oulu and is part of the Northern Ostrobothnia region. The town has a population of 7,199 (30 June 2015) and covers an area of 1,086.15 square kilometres (419.36 sq mi) of which 36.41 km (14.06 sq mi) is water. The population density is 6.86 inhabitants per square kilometre (17.8/sq mi). Neighbour municipalities are Haapajärvi, Kärsämäki, Nivala, Oulainen, Raahe, Siikalatva and Ylivieska.
