Gymnema sylvestre (Sinhalese:මස්බැද්ද / Masbadda)(Malayalam:ചക്കരക്കൊല്ലി ,Tamil:சிறுகுறிஞ்சா) is an herb native to the tropical forests of southern and central India and Sri Lanka. Common names include gymnema, cowplant, Australian cowplant, gurmari, gurmarbooti, gurmar, گڑ مار بوٹیperiploca of the woods, meshasringa (मेषशृंग), Bedki cha pala (बेडकीचा पाला) and miracle fruit(also a common name for two unrelated plants).
