哥德金属（Gothic Metal），**、香港等地译作哥德金属，中国大陆则译作哥特金属，是重金属音乐的一个分支，融合了哥特摇滚的黑暗抑郁与重金属的侵略性。哥特金属诞生于20世纪90年代初的欧洲，由死亡厄运金属发展而来。哥特金属音乐按照所融合的重金属乐的不同类型，也有不同分类。歌词上，既有哥特小说式的，也有描述个人经历的，极富戏剧性并充满悲伤与感悟。

哥特金属的先驱，包括来自英格兰北部的Paradise Lost，My Dying Bride，Anathema，来自美国的Type O Negative，来自瑞典的Tiamat和来自荷兰的The Gathering。挪威乐队Theatre of Tragedy开创了“美女与野兽”的风格，将侵略性的男声和女声清嗓结合，这种鲜明的对比从此被诸多哥特金属乐队采用。90年代中期，Moonspell和Cradle of Filth在黑金属中加入了哥特元素。90年代末，在Tristania和Within Temptation的带动下，哥特金属出现了向交响金属发展的方向。

Gothic metal (or goth metal) is a subgenre of heavy metal and gothic rock that combines the heaviness of heavy metal with the dark atmospheres of gothic rock. The music of gothic metal is diverse with bands known to adopt the gothic approach to different styles of heavy metal music. The genre originated during the early 1990s in Europe originally as an outgrowth of death-doom, a fusion of death metal and doom metal. Lyrics are generally dark and introspective with inspiration from gothic fiction as well as personal experiences.
