国家宪兵（法语：Gendarmerie）是配属在各要塞地区或边界、重要机关负责维持治安的部队，持有步兵等级的重武装，对一般民众有管辖权，亦有侦查重大犯罪的权力。许多国家都有存在国家宪兵的编制，如：法国、意大利、土耳其、西班牙、葡萄牙、荷兰、奥地利和波兰等国。

A gendarmerie or gendarmery (/dʒɛnˈdɑːrməri/ or /ʒɑːnˈdɑːrməri/) is, in principle, a military force charged with police duties among civilian populations. Members of such a force are typically called "gendarmes". The Shorter Oxford English Dictionary describes gendarme as "a soldier who is employed on police duties" and a "gendarmery, -erie" as "gendarmes as a body".
