Which is how in June, 1817, MacGregor was able to sail for Amelia Island, Florida at the head of 200 mercenaries.

But that didn't happen. Instead, MacGregor declared Amelia Island the Republic of East Florida, and then simply settled in to enjoy getting drunk and sunning himself.
