许氏棕榈蝮（学名：Bothriechis schlegelii）分布于墨西哥南部到委内瑞拉北部的巴拿马雨林地带。许氏棕榈蝮体长不到3英呎，体色多变，从金黄、红底橙斑到绿底红斑的色彩都有。牠们隐藏于果树花丛中，鲜艳的色彩可使牠们完全融入背景。许氏棕榈蝮潜藏在树冠层中狩猎，牠们攻击速度高达13英呎，在咬住猎物后会紧咬不放，防止猎物掉落。许氏棕榈蝮经常会潜藏在果园中，果农有时会不经意的侵犯到牠们而激起许氏棕榈蝮的防御性。许氏棕榈蝮的毒液会破坏伤口周围的血液组织，并顺着血液直达心脏，破坏控制心脏的横隔膜，最后导致心跳停止。

The eyelash viper (Bothriechis schlegelii) is a venomous pit viper species found in Central and South America. Small and arboreal, these snakes are characterized by their wide array of color variations, as well as the superciliary scales over the eyes. They are the most common of the green palm-pitvipers (genus Bothriechis), and are often present in zoological exhibits. The specific name schlegelii honors the German ornithologist, Hermann Schlegel.
