Sometimes electrons in those atoms get into an excited state, and when they come back down again they give off light. Crash Course Imagine there's an atom of nickle-60 with one or more of its electrons in an excited state. 813之谜(下) But the patient, who was in a very excited state, had an attack of fever and became delirious. In the excited state of American opinion, few gave heed to the grave breach of diplomatic courtesy committed by breaking open private correspondence. Let's take the example of nickle-60. Imagine there's an atom of nickle-60 with one or more of its electrons in an excited state. 南方与北方(中) Margaret did not care if their gifts had prolonged the strike; she did not think far enough for that, in her present excited state. Crash Course This form of radiation is often released when electrons transition from an unstable excited state, to a more stable state that has a lower energy. 寂寞芳心(下) But when she went back to her husband, she found him in an excited state of mind, and Walter standing before him in the darkness. In quantum mechanics, one of the most important properties of a many-body system is the difference in energy between its ground state and its first excited state. Crash Course So for example, if that uranium atom is at an excited state when it decays in to thorium, it can simultaneous release gamma waves as well as the alpha particle I already mentioned. This kind of decay usually occurs when a nucleus is in an excited state, which can happen because the nucleus is decaying from a larger form, or because it collided with a high-energy particle, among other reasons.
Excited state 激发态![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() In quantum mechanics, an excited state of a system (such as an atom, molecule or nucleus) is any quantum state of the system that has a higher energy than the ground state (that is, more energy than the absolute minimum). Excitation is an elevation in energy level above an arbitrary baseline energy state. In physics there is a specific technical definition for energy level which is often associated with an atom being raised to an excited state. The temperature of a group of particles is indicative of the level of excitation (with the notable exception of systems that exhibit negative temperature). |
