美学（英语：Aesthetics），又称感觉学，是以对美的本质及其意义的研究为主题的学科，乃哲学其中一个重要分支。

美学一词来源于希腊语 aisthetikos 。最初的意义是“对感观的感受”。由德国哲学家鲍姆嘉通（亚力山大·葛特列·鲍姆嘉通）首次使用的。他的《美学》一书的出版标志了美学做为一门独立学科的产生。

直到19世纪，美学在传统古典艺术的概念中通常被被定义为研究“美”（德语：Schönheit）的学说。现代哲学将美学定义为认识艺术，科学，设计和哲学中认知感觉的理论和哲学。一个客体的美学价值并不是简单的被定义为“美”和“丑”，而是去认识客体的类型和本质。

Aesthetics, or the philosophy of art, is the study of beauty and taste. It is about interpreting works of art and art movements or theories. The term aesthetic is also used to designate a particular style, for example the "chess aesthetics", the "japanese aesthetics".
