德国牧羊犬又称德国狼犬〈英文：German Shepherd Dog〉，是狗的一个品种，德国牧羊犬很聪明，在所有犬类的智商排名中排行第三。他们敏捷且适合动作式的工作环境，牠们经常被部署各种任务，例如警察、护卫、搜索及拯援和军事，牠们也为盲者做导盲犬的工作。不考虑牠们适合的工作性质，德国牧羊犬也可以是家庭内忠心和亲暱的宠物，牠们喜欢接近人（包括小孩）和其他动物。德国牧羊犬善于服从，可参与schutzhund试验测试教练和狗两者能力以获得荣誉的称号。

德国牧羊犬原产于德国，具体的血统来源不明。唯一能够确认的就是，于1880年此犬已经在德国各地固定下来，并做为牧羊犬使用。后于第一次世界大战期间被德军募集，做为军犬随军。由德军取长补短培育后，基本定型。因为体型高大，外观威猛，并且具备极强的工作能力，因此在全世界范围以警犬、搜救犬、导盲犬、牧羊犬、观赏犬以及家养宠物犬等身份活跃。

Since that time, however, because of their strength, intelligence, trainability, and obedience, German Shepherds around the world are often the preferred breed for many types of work, including disability assistance, search-and-rescue, police and military roles, and even acting. The German Shepherd is the second-most popular breed of dog in the United States and fourth-most popular in the United Kingdom.
