欧洲鳀 European anchovy

欧洲鳀为辐鳍鱼纲鲱形目鳀科的其中一种，分布于东大西洋区，包括地中海、黑海、亚速海、挪威至南非等海域，栖息深度可达400公尺，本鱼吻突出，上颔短，前端圆钝，体侧具一银色条纹，随年龄增长而消失，背鳍软条16-18枚，臀鳍软条13-15枚，体长可达20公分，栖息沿海、河口，能忍受盐度的变化，会进行洄游，以浮游生物为食，可做为食用鱼或饵鱼。

The European anchovy (Engraulis encrasicolus) is a forage fish somewhat related to the herring. Anchovies are placed in the family Engraulidae.
It is easily distinguished by its deeply cleft mouth, the angle of the gape being behind the eyes. The pointed snout extends beyond the lower jaw. The fish resembles a sprat in having a forked tail and a single dorsal fin, but the body is round and slender. The maximum length is 21 cm (8 ⁄8 in).
