数码货币（英语：Digital currency，又译为数字货币）是电子货币形式的替代货币。目前，任何政府的中央银行都没有表示要发行数码货币，数码货币也不一定要有基准货币和中央银行。

它不同于虚拟世界中的虚拟货币，因为它能被用于真实的商品和服务交易，而不局限在网络游戏中。早期的数码货币（数字黄金货币）是一种以黄金重量命名的电子货币形式。现在的数码货币，比如比特币、莱特币和PPCoin是依靠校验和密码技术来创建、发行和流通的电子货币。其特点是运用P2P对等网络技术来发行、管理和流通货币，理论上避免了官僚机构的审批，让每个人都有权发行货币。

Digital currency or digital money is an Internet-based medium of exchange distinct from physical (such as banknotes and coins) that exhibits properties similar to physical currencies, but allows for instantaneous transactions and borderless transfer-of-ownership. Both virtual currencies and cryptocurrencies are types of digital currencies, but the converse is incorrect. Like traditional money these currencies may be used to buy physical goods and services but could also be restricted to certain communities such as for example for use inside an on-line game or social network. Digital currencies such as bitcoin are known as "decentralized digital currencies," meaning that there is no central point of control over the money supply.
