生态城市，也称生态城（英文：Eco-City），是一种趋向尽可能降低对于能源、水或是食物等必需品的需求量，也尽可能降低废热、二氧化碳、甲烷与废水的排放的城市。这类的城市愿景首先是被建筑师保罗·弗朗西斯·道顿（Paul Francis Downton）等人所提出的，保罗·弗朗西斯·道顿后来创建了「生态建筑」公司。

一个持久性都市可以自行供应自己本身所需要的能源与食物，尽量减少对于周围乡村的依赖，并且尽量使都市的居民减少产生生态足迹（Ecological footprint）。在这样的城市中，能够对待周围环境更加友善，减少污染、土地利用与全球暖化。

A sustainable city, or eco-city (also "ecocity") is a city designed with consideration of environmental impact, inhabited by people dedicated to minimization of required inputs of energy, water and food, and waste output of heat, air pollution - CO₂, methane, and water pollution. Richard Register first coined the term "ecocity" in his 1987 book, Ecocity Berkeley: Building Cities for a Healthy Future. Other leading figures who envisioned the sustainable city are architect Paul F Downton, who later founded the company Ecopolis Pty Ltd, and authors Timothy Beatley and Steffen Lehmann, who have written extensively on the subject. The field of industrial ecology is sometimes used in planning these cities.
