奔鸟是雷啸鸟属（学名Dromornis）的鸟类。牠们是最大的不会飞的鸟，高达3-5米及重250-500公斤。牠们生存在中新世晚期至上新世早期的澳洲，故早期的人类未有与牠们接触。
奔鸟有一个巨大的喙及颚骨。虽然牠们像巨型的鸸鹋，但其实较为接近鹅。史氏雷啸鸟就高达4米及重500公斤。牠们栖息在澳洲亚热带的辽阔林地，有可能是肉食性的。牠们比隆鸟重，且比恐鸟高。由于D. australis化石纪录的不完全，加上两个物种间巨大的时间差，史氏雷啸鸟可能会被重新分类为牛鸟。
