刚果民主共和国（法语：République démocratique du Congo）是位于非洲中部的一个国家，民主刚果曾改称扎伊尔（法语：Zaïre）。该国陆地面积约234.5万平方公里，是非洲第二大（仅次于阿尔及利亚）、暨世界第十一大的国家。人口超过7100万，是世界人口第十九多、非洲人口第四多的国家，以及正式法语人口最多的国家。

民主刚果原为比利时殖民地，当时称比属刚果。1960年2月独立。与邻国同称刚果共和国，在两国名称后括注首都名称以作区别，该国名为刚果共和国（利奥波德维尔）。1964年8月1日改国名为刚果民主共和国。1971年10月27日改国名为扎伊尔共和国，1997年5月17日，朗·卡比拉领导的刚果解放民主力量同盟的武装部队攻占首都金沙萨，宣布就任总统，并恢复国名为刚果民主共和国至今。

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (/ˈkɒŋɡoʊ/; French pronunciation: ​[kɔ̃ɡo]; French:République démocratique du Congo), also known as DR Congo, DRC, DROC, Congo-Kinshasa, or simply the Congo is a country located in Central Africa. From 1971 to 1997 it was named Zaire. The DRC borders the Republic of the Congo, the Central African Republic, and South Sudan to the north; Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania to the east; Zambia and Angola to the south; and the Atlantic Ocean to the west. It is the second largest country in Africa by area, the largest in Subsaharan Africa, and the eleventh largest in the world. With a population of over 79 million, the Democratic Republic of the Congo is the most populated officially Francophone country, the fourth most populated nation in Africa and the nineteenth most populated country in the world.
